Experience
Terry Brennan is a litigator who has practiced in almost every environment and seen the profession from almost every angle. As a result, the skill set he offers is unique, broadened by each step of his journey.
Terry started as a litigation associate at Kirkland & Ellis’ Chicago office. The experience was intense, with each case involving large clients and millions of dollars. It was also fulfilling. At Kirkland, Terry had the opportunity to work with some of the country’s finest lawyers. From them, he learned to become a student of his cases – detailed, thorough and focused. It is an approach that remains central to his work.
After Kirkland, Terry moved to a mid-sized firm, where he defended small businesses and insurance companies. There, he worked in the gears of the legal machinery. This meant near daily court appearances, procedural motions and client contact. The result was an experience that anchors much of Terry’s current practice, from the mid-sized cases he manages to the strong client relationships he develops.
Next, at age 34, Terry became a partner at Goldstein & McClintock, a boutique firm run by former big firm lawyers. At G&M, he represented a range of clients, from large banks to mid-sized companies to professionals. And as a partner, he led the cases. That is, he made the ultimate decisions on strategy and served as the clients’ main contact.
In 2017, Terry opened his own practice, dedicated to serving professionals and small-to-mid-sized businesses. For these clients, he offers the benefit of his experience, ability and work ethic, blended with the personal touch only a solo practitioner can provide.
From these environments, Terry has built a thorough understanding of the profession. He has represented large and mid-sized companies, practiced in federal and state court, handled arbitrations and mediations, and managed claims of all types. Specifically, these claims have included financial regulation, corporate fraud, commercial real estate, breach of fiduciary duty, and contract disputes. More recently, Terry has also begun handling judgment enforcement matters and working with clients in the sports industry.
